Finca Iris │ Finca el Beneficio │ Finca Bertha
EL BENEFICIO
René, from Santiago Puringla, comes from a family of coffee producers dedicated to improving their well-being and educational opportunities. Their first farm, El Beneficio, originally grew varieties like Typica, Caturra, Pacas, and Bourbon, which have since been replaced by more pest-resistant types.
Finca Iris, located in Peña Blanca and planted with El Beneficio's varieties, was acquired in 2005. It underwent renovations after pest infestations affected Honduran farms in the early 2000s.
Subsequently, in 2022, we planted Parainema and Geisha coffee trees to diversify our farm's portfolio and improve cup quality.
FINCA BERTHA
Afterwards, in 2024, we acquired a new Farm named after one of our members. The farm is called Bertha, and it is located across Finca Iris. Inside the farm, there are IHCAFE 90, Catimor, Lempira, and Parainema coffee trees. This new addition will allow us to have more production and provide customers with higher volumes.
Currently, we have two fully operational wet mill stations, which allow us to be more efficient in the washed and honey processes. Moreover, we included different patios and drying beds in different locations that allow us to take advantage of the different temperatures and weather conditions to dry our coffees.
We have two different water sources, one from within our farm and the other from a nearby creek. We are trying to preserve as much water as possible, given that these water sources are essential for our farm ecosystem.
